$100 Coupon for Google AdWords Logo

Do you have anything you want to advertise online?  Your business or your personal site?  A fansite or a non-profit organization? Wide Open can help!  Contact us today and we can create a Google AdWords account for you and also hook you up with a coupon for $100 credit towards your advertising campaign.

AdWords is a GREAT tool to promote your business or product.  When you use AdWords, your ads not only display on Google’s search engine pages, but they also display on other Google owned websites like YouTube and Gmail.  PLUS your ads will display on Google’s Search Partner pages like AOL and Ask.com.  Lastly your ads will display within Google’s AdSense Program, a program created for bloggers and content publishers to display ads on their websites.

Whether your a nationwide company or local company, you can advertise on Google AdWords.  AdWords gives you the ability to target your ads to specific areas.  Your ads can display in every state in the US or just within a 25 mile radius of your local office.  This way your ads are only showing up where you want them to.

The best part about AdWords is you only pay when your ad is clicked.  It could display a thousand times and you don’t have to pay a penny until your ad is clicked.

Please contact us today if you have any questions, comments or want to setup an AdWords account and we’ll give you a coupon code for a $100 credit towards your new AdWords account.  Hope to hear from you soon.

New Sign Out Front

Written by WideOpenAdmin on April 29, 2011 | Leave a Comment

Today, we got a new sign installed in the front of our building located on 233 Buford Ave. Gettysburg, PA 17325. Wide Open created the design of the sign while Martin Design Group phsycially created it and installed it. This sign is an improvement over the last one as the last one didn’t include any of the services we offer. We included that in this design as well as some binary code in the background. If you’re in the Gettysburg area and you’re driving by, give us a honk!

Google Experiments with the +1 Button

Written by WideOpenAdmin on March 31, 2011 | Leave a Comment

This week, Google announced it’s latest experiment, The +1 Button. This button will let other Google users know which sites have been recommended or “Liked” but other Google users.

At the moment, this is only an experiment. If you want to join the experiment and start +1ing pages, you can enroll in the program at google.com/experimental. You will need a Google Profile in order to enroll in the experiment. Wide Open has already enrolled and we +1ed our own site (obviously).

The future of the +1 Button looks bright. Not only will the button have the social media aspect of it by letting other Google users know what’s popular, but the number of +1s will also help sites improve their Google ranking. In the future, they plan to add the +1 Button to the search engine advertisements. This way users can see which ads or sales are positive or are recommended by other users.

Below is video which Google made which explains the +1 Button in further detail. If you sign up for the experiment, be sure to +1 Wide Open Communications!

Very Cool Apple…Very cool.

apple-logoWide Open is a PC environment, however when we hear a story like this, we have to give it props.

Apparently, a guy bought an iPad 2 when it launched and was happy with it, but the wife was not.  The guy had returned it with a Post-It note on it saysing “Wife said no“.  The VPs of Apple eventally heard about this and sent him a new iPad 2 with a Post-It note on it saying “Apple said yes!“.

Quite cool of a major company.  I can only imagen the slew of people thinking of doing the same thing.

Scam E-mails and Other Dangers

Written by WideOpenAdmin on February 24, 2011 | Leave a Comment

I received an email today on the behalf of one of our clients. The subject of the email was “Twitter Notification“. I actually received two of them. I looked a bit more into it and realized it was a scam email.

The email posed as a twitter notification email but the link within the email went to a totally different site then what was indicated. This could have went to a site which injected malware on to my computer or to a site that looked like a Twitter login form in an attempt to obtain my username and password for my account.

twitter notification scam email - ALERT

These emails happen WAY to often and you can protect yourself by being careful. If you mouseover a link and wait for a few seconds, you should see a box show up with the URL the link is linked to. If they do not match or it goes to a site you do not recognize, DO NOT CLICK. If you receive a scam email, mark it as spam to avoid any future e-mails from the sender.

Unfortunately, these spammers have a success rate or else they wouldn’t keep sending these out. Just be careful when checking your email. If you have any questions, comments or concerns with your email, please contact us.
